blacklight & incense sessions

"Deep dance music for serious souls."  That perfectly describes Saturday night's Blacklight & Incense Sessions at The Arts Asylum.  Chill.  Deep.  Dark.  Techno.   Everyone who was there WANTED to be there, and were so glad that at the end of the night they could say they were there.  Hearing techno in Kansas City again outside the club scene was a breath of fresh air.   We were there for the music.  And you should hear the speaker system that was just recently completed.  The sound moves you to your soul.  This party is sure to be a "must-attend" this summer.  Looking forward to the next one, you'll find me on the dance floor.

sirius feenixpawl

Feenixpawl is the Australian team who produced the smash singles “In My Mind” and “Universe,” and they are back for a summer tour of North America. In support of the tour, the boys are giving away their dance floor rendition of The Alan Parsons Project’s “Sirius.” Any sports fan will recognize “Sirius” as the entry song for The Chicago Bulls and (very random) former WWF superstar Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.

It all took off in 2011. Feenixpawl’s bootleg of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep hit music blogs, spreading like wildfire, gaining the boys international recognition. Then the bomb hit…the final quarter of 2011 saw the boys collaborate with Ivan Gough, one half of the legendary Australian house duo TV Rock. The talent of singer/songwriter Georgi Kay rounded out this team and together they produced “In My Mind,” an epic and emotional big room tune that Axwell immediately secured for release on his label Axtone.

Upon its release in early 2012, “In My Mind” reached Number 1 on the Beatport charts within a week. It also reached Number 2 on the HypeMachine and DMCWorld Buzz Charts. Following the success of their hit single, Kaskade asked them to remix ‘Room For Happiness’ featuring Skylar Grey from his album Fire & Ice, and Adrian Lux enlisted them to remix his hit ‘Burning’ from his self-titled album. Next on the production tip was the hit single, “Universe” that went on to be one of the biggest smashes of the fall 2012.

Feenixpawl have fast built a reputation not only for the seemingly infinite amount of energy they bring to any setting, or their innate talent to create an incredible atmosphere out of thin air, but for their intrinsic ability to produce remarkable music. Be on the look out for brand new Feenixpawl music coming soon.

club life volume 3

International superstar DJ and producer Tiësto announces the release of his new Mix album, CLUB LIFE - Volume Three Stockholm, via his own record label, Musical Freedom. This follows 2012’s acclaimed CLUB LIFE - Volume Two Miami, which peaked at number 16 on the Billboard, Top 200 Chart.

The third installment in Tiësto’s exciting CLUB LIFE series is inspired by Stockholm - one of dance music’s most important creative centers.

Tiësto explains, “I moved to Stockholm in February 2009 and now spend several months there every year. The Swedes are enormously talented in fashion, music and art, which is extremely inspiring for me when I work on new tracks. There are also lots of great clubs within walking distance from the city center that makes Stockholm a very friendly place to party. This mix album perfectly encapsulates my Stockholm Club Life experience.”

CLUB LIFE - Volume Three Stockholm offers a look into the pristine Scandinavian city from Tiësto’s view. As with the previous CLUB LIFE compilations, this third instalment leans heavily on Tiësto’s own exclusive original productions as the driving force behind the album. When I listen back to this mix and the tracks that I produced and remixed, it takes me back to special places and very fond memories of Stockholm. escape in the beats 7

If you are looking for a something worthwhile to do over Memorial Day, then plan on being at the Lake of the Ozarks for Escape in the Beats 7.  This all weekend dance event will be held at Kirkwood Lodge in Osage Beach on the Lake of the Ozarks.  The all inclusive package covers food, lodging, a Late Night Boogie Cruise aboard The Celebration, and all night parties featuring some best DJs from all over the country.

At the top of the roster is Terry Mullan, Chicago's turntablist extraordinaire, turning out dance floors week after week throughout the US and abroad. Any true fan of House Music knows his name, and celebrates his amazing DJ sets. He has developed a faithful following to those who know through his signature style of funky quirky jacking techy acid house combined with cutting and beat juggling making up an entirely new genre all his own. Terry's DJ'ing, label and tracks have earned him a reputation that extends worldwide. Never one to follow the masses, he borrowed from each genre to create what we all know to be Terry's sound, putting a bad ass twist on an otherwise conservative house scene. This man is truly a living legend.

Also appearing, an unbelievable lineup of talent from all across the country!

Corduroy Mavricks ~ Tango

Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky, Matt Mason and Rick Nielsen, better known as the Corduroy Mavericks, are quickly smashing the stereotype that the Bluegrass State and surrounding areas are lacking in prolific house music producers. With their quirky range of jazzy, soulful, techy, deep and funky house, New York, Chicago, the West Coast and other dance mecca’s have been put on notice via the sonic enthusiasm of a pair of Corduroy-loving trailblazers from the Bluegrass State.
